I want to develop a forum using XML Web services (ASP.NET/VB). First, how do I implement Web services in a forum Web site, meaning which aspect of the Web site will be a Web service? Secondly, what is the advantage of using Web services to implement such a Web site?
Easy. Just expose your content services as Web services, providing a directory front end such as Grand Central or UDDI. Once that happens, others looking to leverage those services can both discover and deploy the services in their own info space.
The advantage of using Web services to implement a Web site is the ability for others to leverage your content as true services, allowing behavior to be distributed with the information.
