WebSphere enhancements?

My company is currently running WebSphere 3.5 and is interested in upgrading to WebSphere 4.0. What are some of the major enhancements in version 4.0 and is it worth upgrading at this time?

WebSphere Version 4 focused on three key areas of e-business: open standards (J2EE and Web Services), connection management, and transaction management. Is it worth upgrading? Yes - given that V4 marks the first WebSphere release that is fully J2EE-certified with extended support for other Web services standards such as XML, SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI.

Additional J2EE-compliant connectors that work with V4's Java 2 Connectoivity layer are now available from vendors such as PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, et al. Transactional application performance has been improved through additional caching. Security has been enhanced with secure firewall support and interoperability with Tivoli's Policy Director. Also, support for JMS-XA has been added for message-driven beans outbound support and transaction coordination across MQ-enabled systems and relational databases. Overall, Version 4 offers a nice, flexible web application server that is becoming core and integral to many of the more specialized 3rd-party and IBM solution offerings.
