Why do you think JMS is valuable? What is missing from JMS?
I would say because JMS has proven to solve real-world problems and because JMS addresses an important need of software developers: to provide a middleware platform which helps developers in developing distributed software systems which are scalable, reliable, and can process a high number of transactions. See my previous answer for more information.
Examples of what is missing from JMS include a security architecture, management API and XML integration.
