At IBM Impact 2012 in Las Vegas, famed software engineer Grady Booch wore a T-shirt that asked “What if developers ruled the world?” Although the general session was more about managers than developers, a mini “unconference” at Impact featured all things geek. Booch took a trip down memory lane, from punch cards to the first programmable Colossus, from John von Neumann to Java. Today, the very experience of the developer is changing, he opined. “We change the world,” said IBM Fellow Booch, highlighting the developer’s important role in the Web age.
